Scolaria Excellence

All the Seconde classes will be open in September 2012.

Each pupil will have to pass an entrance test. For more details of this test, please see the section on Entry Selection to the Upper School.

Seconde ‘catch-up’

The Seconde ‘catch-up’ class at Scolaria is very similar to the general Seconde class in a French state school. However, it offers some broad and enriching options. It is only open to those pupils who wish to enter our establishment from the Seconde onwards, and who have achieved at least an Assez Bien score at the French national Diplôme National du Brevet or an equivalent. It then opens the path to a three year course in one of our specialist courses: Scientific, Literature-Linguistics and Economic and Social Sciences.

Options: Each pupil is permitted to take up to two different options within their timetable.

Scientific Seconde

The Scientific Seconde class is a specific course aimed at future engineers and doctors. The aim is to prepare the pupil, in the best possible conditions, for entry into one of the French Grandes Ecoles or equivalent. It is only open to those who wish to register in the establishment for the Seconde onwards, and who have achieved a mention Très Bien at the French Diplôme National du Brevet or equivalent. It is also the logical progression from the scientific option in the Middle School at Scolaria. This is then followed by a Scientific Première and Terminale. The human sciences are not forgotten, with rich and diverse options available.

Options: pupil is permitted to take up to two different options within their timetable.

Literary and Linguistic Seconde

The Literary and Linguistic Seconde is a specific course aimed at the intellectual field (linguists, translators, journalists, diplomats). The aim is to prepare the pupil, in the best possible conditions, for entry into one of the French Grandes Ecoles or equivalent. It is only open to those who wish to register in the establishment for the Seconde onwards, and who have achieved a mention Très Bien at the French Diplôme National du Brevet or equivalent. It is also the logical progression from the classic and linguistic option in the Middle School at Scolaria. This is then followed by a literary and linguistic Première and Terminale.

S.E.S. Seconde

The Economic and Social Science (S.E.S.) Seconde is a specific course aimed at the economic and commercial field. The aim is to prepare the pupil, in the best possible conditions, for entry into one of the French Grandes Ecoles or equivalent. It is only open to those who wish to register in the establishment for the Seconde onwards, and who have achieved a mention Bien at the French Diplôme National du Brevet or equivalent. This is then followed by an Economic and Social Science Première and Terminale. The human sciences are not forgotten, with rich and diverse options available.
