Selection into Middle School

During pre-registration, pupils will be required to pass an evaluation test. This test is designed to evaluate a pupil’s level in French (reading, writing, dictation and oral expression), mathematics and general culture. This test is scored out of 100 points.

70 points or more: Automatic entry to the three courses.
Between 50 and 69 points: Entry authorised to the classic course.
Between 30 and 49 points: Compulsory catch-up year with a single teacher (small group). A new test will be offered at the end of the year and, depending on the points scored in line with the scale above, the pupil may be offered entry to the three courses.
Less than 30 points: Deferred registration in Middle School. The pupil may, however, be offered the possibility of registration in the establishment as part of a Specific Remedial Class (S.R.C.).

Nevertheless, based on the evidence from the test, even a successful test, any shortcomings will be addressed during study times.

For pupils who wish to gain direct entry into 4ème
(14 years old maximum), an evaluation test based on 100 points will be offered, based on the level required at the end of the 5ème. The average must be achieved in order for the pupil to be accepted in the 4ème classic class. If the average is between 30 and 49, a catch-up class may be created, with a maximum of 15 pupils, in order to provide these pupils with the necessary level to progress into 4ème the following year.
